Weleda Natural’s Quality Management System is based upon pharmaceutical standards. This system is characterized by Weleda’s principle and motto, “In harmony with nature and the human being,” along with the understanding that people are at the center of all our business activities. Our quality management and the way in which we see ourselves as a company is derived from Anthroposophy.

We develop all quality standards and finished products in cooperation with the Weleda Group, interested partners, scientists and doctors. Adequate production facilities and processes ensure that our products are safe and effective.

To the greatest extent possible, we design and carry out all significant production processes ourselves.  In order to ensure the highest quality raw materials, we cultivate medicinal plants in our biodynamic gardens. In addition, we maintain close relationships with each of our suppliers. We determine the source of every raw material used, and we ensure premier quality through our Supplier Management System, ingredient analysis and the short distances that our raw materials often travel from their sources to our facilities.

Many of our suppliers are market leaders in their area of business. We track the quality of all materials supplied to us from the development and cultivation phases to production. In addition to monitoring the ecological and pharmaceutical quality of all supplier practices, the social conditions that exist throughout the production process, play a crucial role in determining and sustaining our partnerships. All of our suppliers must go through an approval process, requiring them to document all relevant processes and procedures in the form of questionnaires, process descriptions and quality analysis either at Weleda or external laboratories and certification agencies. This approval system also includes an on-site visit of the supplier.  We regularly evaluate the development of both the supplier relationship and the materials supplied, subsequently establishing further goals and standards accordingly.

As part of our quality control, we analyse all relevant characteristics of our raw materials and final products, paying special attention to any traces of impurities or pollution.  Through this process we take into account both current scientific developments and the specific character of our products. Beyond covering all official requirements, we also strive to meet the expectations of our customers by conducting up-to-date analyses. Our documentation of all procedures ensures full transparency—from the field to the final product—of  our processes and standards.

Our Quality Management System is continuously improved and monitored by state authorities, certification agencies and customers. We especially welcome our customers and suppliers to take an active role in developing our Quality Management System with us.
